Statement │

Why do you want to study architecture at MSA? The difference between MSA and other schools is that it's a joint program with MMU and I like the course design. I'm excited by the wide range of courses for different mediums. It gives the students flexibility to express their ideas. The many connections with the residents and studios in the community will give me more opportunities to have real life work experience. A review of a recent exhibition or building that you have visited I was recently traveling with my family to Germany so I was lucky enough to have the chance to go to Cologne Cathedral and I was astonished by its perfect combination of decoration, structure and culture. All that I had learned about Gothic Architecture from my Western Architecture History class could finally be used practically. I was really excited to act as a tour guide to my family, giving a brief introduction to architecture history and knowledge. Even if they weren't as excited as I was! ...

2D Artwork │ Transformations

This is one of my assignments from my first year of architecture in my current college.

Design │ Public Pavilion Fashion Centre

The site is in the Shilin Night Market area, one of the most popular and famous tourism spots in Taiwan. Current site view At the intersection between two roads [Case Study]   I am interested in the idea of having multiple uses in different hours at the same site. Therefore I tried to put this concept into my design. [Concepts] [Plans] [Section] [Model]

Design │ Neverland

This was an open-ended assignment. I decided to make it a playful, experimental project. The main use of the design is a preschool for children.  First, the concept came up to create height differences between two circulations and their surface.  Then, I manipulated various materials in my models to create space during the study process. [Concept Study Models] [Hand Drawn Plans] [Final Model]

Design │ The Connection Of Contradictions

[Connecting height, angle, as well as aspect by creating circulations and changing the skyline.] When I first walked in the alley, it felt wide by Taiwan standards. But when I look up, I figured it was the light traveling through the space of canopies, plantes, and various materials into the alley that provided the open feeling.  Unlike the street level which is quite open, just as rainforest canopies are thick and thin, so was this and other similar Taiwan building canopies. [The Photoes Of The Current Situation Of The Site]  -Skyline From The Streelevel- If you cut a section at differet heights, each layer will create its own skyline.  Light is created by the various aspects of materials , from their transparency to their height. In concept, I tried to use linear relationships to create connections. [Concept Model] Connection between viewpoints [Study Model] I tried to build models to study each height layer section. [Plans]...

Design │ From Elements To Field

The site building was originally an old dormitory for the families of the public university employees nearby. However, as time pass by, most of the residents were moved out and left the building into a state of dilapidation. The unversity plans to turn a part of the place into a hostel for international backpackers. [Case Study] [Transportation] [Concepts] [Hand Drawn Plans] [Collage] [Models]
